The Dentelles de Montmirail above the vines and cypresses
Le Bouquet de Séguret

Around the Bouquet

Provence, at your own pace

Hilltop villages, vineyards, colourful markets and landscapes sculpted by the light: around the Bouquet, each day offers a new way of discovering Provence.

There is no need to travel far. The Dentelles de Montmirail, the great terroirs of the Côtes-du-Rhône and some of the finest villages of the Vaucluse are minutes from the house.

Villages to discover

Gigondas

At the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, Gigondas mixes stone houses, small shaded squares and celebrated wine estates. You come to wander, to eat on a terrace, to taste a great wine or to walk into the surrounding hills.

Sablet

Quieter, Sablet keeps the peaceful charm of a Provençal village lived in all year round. Its lanes wind around the church and offer, from the heights, fine views over the vines and Séguret.

Vaison-la-Romaine

Vaison brings together two thousand years of history and the energy of a small Provençal town. Roman sites, the medieval upper town, galleries, terraces and a big market make for a particularly generous walk. It is also the place to linger over a coffee or have lunch on the Place Montfort.

Wide landscapes

Between the Dentelles and the Ventoux

The Dentelles de Montmirail

Their limestone ridges draw the horizon from the house. Many footpaths bring you closer, among vines, olive trees, pines and cliffs. A walk at the end of the day reveals their shapes at their finest, when the stone turns golden.

Mont Ventoux

Visible from far off, the Giant of Provence dominates the whole region. The climb reveals landscapes that change as you gain altitude, up to the bare panorama of the summit. A spectacular outing, by car, by bike or on foot.

The Toulourenc gorges

North of the Ventoux, the Toulourenc runs through wilder, cooler country. Its clear water, its gorges and its narrow roads offer a natural break that is especially welcome on summer days.

Tasting Provence

The Provençal markets

Ripe fruit, sun-grown vegetables, cheeses, olives, herbs and bunches of flowers: the markets are one of the finest ways to get to know the region. The one in Vaison-la-Romaine is especially lively, but every village has its own days and its own growers.

Take the time to choose a few things, stop at a café terrace and let the morning stretch out.

The wine route

Séguret sits at the heart of some of the finest appellations of the southern Rhône valley: Gigondas, Rasteau, Cairanne, Vacqueyras and Beaumes-de-Venise.

From family estates to the most celebrated properties, many cellars welcome visitors to share their work and introduce their wines. Emma and Sylvain will point you to their favourite addresses and help you plan your tastings.

Lunch in the shade of the plane trees

A village square, a few tables under the trees, cooking built on market produce and a glass of local wine: here, lunch is fully part of the day.

From the tables of Séguret to the terraces of Gigondas or Vaison-la-Romaine, there is no shortage of chances to taste the Provençal way of living.

Three cultural outings

The Palais des Papes in Avignon, on its great paved square

Avignon

Behind its ramparts, Avignon holds a remarkable history and energy. The Palais des Papes, the Pont Saint-Bénézet, the museums and the lanes of the old centre easily fill a whole day, punctuated by shaded squares and good tables. Every summer, throughout July, the festival transforms the city: performances in theatres, courtyards and streets alike.

An exhibition room at the Rencontres de la photographie, in Arles

Arles

On the edge of the Camargue, Arles mixes Roman monuments, townhouses and southern light. The city keeps the mark of Van Gogh and hosts the Rencontres de la photographie every summer. You walk from the arena to the banks of the Rhône, between heritage, galleries and busy terraces.
